One system done deeply, or many systems done for facades

SET is made by PERI for PERI UP. PERI says planning in it is «as flexible as you are used to with the PERI UP scaffolding construction kit», and the shapes it names show what that means: scaffold towers, accesses, cantilevers, pipe penetrations, different levels, and an automatic function that places the units in a circle at the radius you need. For industrial and plant work in PERI UP, that is a lot of geometry in a browser tool.

ScaFix plans PERI UP and PERI UP Easy too, but as two systems among 108 from 56 manufacturers. Its strength is the facade: a house or a block, walls with corners and gables, deck levels and ties, counted into a full parts list in whatever system the yard has that week. Rounded corners, silos, hanging scaffolds, hoists and mobile and stair towers are part of ScaFix Pro only.

How the plan starts

In SET the plan is drawn in the tool's 3D view, and the surroundings can be shown by placing 3D bodies. PERI points to online manuals, tutorial videos and an in-tool feedback function for users who get stuck, and says no extensive CAD knowledge is needed.

ScaFix starts from the building instead: wall lengths and heights typed in, a PDF floor plan, or a LiDAR scan with the iPhone app. The engine places whole bays of the chosen system along each wall, raises the gable walls to the ridge and adds the deck levels, so the first 3D model and parts list exist before anything has been drawn by hand.

The material list and the offer

Both tools end in a list. PERI describes SET's material list as a quick overview of the planned items with weight information, at component level, that «can easily be exported to Excel for creating an offer». That is a sound way to work: the estimate comes from the plan, and the price is built in the firm's own sheet.

ScaFix gives a complete parts list by group and length in every plan, and in Pro exports it as CSV or Excel and writes a PDF quote. Neither tool checks loads: PERI's page does not mention a structural check for SET, and ScaFix makes none. ScaFix is a planning aid, not structural approval.

Price and access

PERI's system-requirements box says «Registration: Free». The page does not describe further terms, so ask PERI how SET fits with a PERI UP purchase or hire.

ScaFix publishes its prices, and the price paragraph below is filled from its price list. There is no free ScaFix plan.

Pick PERI SET if…

• your scaffolds are PERI UP work platforms and stairs;
• the jobs have towers, cantilevers, pipe penetrations or circular layouts;
• you want a weighted material list to price in Excel, with free registration;
• you work in English or German.

Pick ScaFix if…

• you plan facade scaffolds for houses and blocks in several brands;
• you want to start from wall measurements, a PDF floor plan or an iPhone scan;
• you want the plan and parts list on the phone, on site;
• you want a PDF quote from the plan (Pro).

What ScaFix does not do

• No structural calculation or approval: ScaFix is a planning aid, not structural approval.
• No pipe penetrations or free 3D bodies around the scaffold.
• No CAD drawings.
• No free plan.

What ScaFix costs

From ScaFix's own price list: the first week of Pro costs €0.98, then €9.98 a week until you cancel (cancel in the first week and access ends at once). The yearly plans cost €39.90 (Basic Light), €79.90 (Basic) and €149.90 (Pro) a year. Rounded corners, silos, hanging scaffolds, hoists and mobile and stair towers are Pro only.
