Scaffold quantities

Scaffold quantities by wall size

How many parts does a facade scaffold need for a wall of a given size? The tables below give the bays, the decked lifts and the pieces per part type for five wall sizes and three scaffold systems, worked out by the same engine as the ScaFix app.

How many scaffold parts does a wall need?

A 12.28 m long, 6 m high wall with Layher Blitz (4 × 3.07 m) needs 99 parts in all according to ScaFix: 18 frames and standards, 9 decks, 12 base jacks and legs and 26 wall ties and fittings, with decks on 2 lifts. A 30.7 m wall 12 m high needs 390. The count follows the system, the bay length, the height and the access, so the tables show each system separately.

Layher Blitz: parts by wall size

Scaffold depth 0.73 m, access: decks with ladders. Each wall is a whole number of 3.07 m bays, so the scaffold covers it exactly. One straight wall, no corners.

How to read the tables

  • Each row is one straight facade wall, worked out by the same engine as projects in the app. The examples are ours, not a customer's project.
  • “frames and standards”, “decks”, “base jacks and legs” and “wall ties and fittings” are the app's own part groups. “Parts in all” also counts ledgers, guardrails, toeboards, braces, ends and access.
  • Corners change the count: connected walls share the corner bays. Gables, sloping ground, a deeper scaffold or a stair tower change it too.
  • For your own building, enter the walls in ScaFix: the parts list then follows your measurements and settings.

Limits

  • The number of wall ties follows the system's tie rule. Their positions must be checked against the manufacturer's assembly instructions.
  • Round corners, silos and hanging scaffolds are in Pro. A round scaffold is not a standard configuration and needs a calculation or the supplier's documentation. A hanging scaffold (Layher Allround and HAKI Universal) always needs a structural calculation from the supplier or an engineer.

Questions and answers

How many base jacks does a 12.28 m scaffold need?

With Layher Blitz, a 12.28 m long, 6 m high wall (4 × 3.07 m) needs 12 pieces in the group “base jacks and legs” according to ScaFix. The base jacks follow the bays: one row of standards or frame legs per bay end, plus the system's own extra parts.

How many wall ties does a scaffold need?

It depends on the system's tie rule and the height. In ScaFix, the 12.28 m × 6 m wall with Layher Blitz gets 26 pieces in “wall ties and fittings”, and the 30.7 m × 12 m wall gets 93. Check the ties against the manufacturer's instructions.

Does the system change the number of parts?

Yes. A wall of four bays, 6 m high, needs 99 parts with Layher Blitz (12.28 m long) and 166 with Layher Allround (12.28 m long), because the bay length, the frames or standards and the decks differ.
