Scaffold calculator

Scaffold calculator: from wall dimensions to parts list

Type the length and height of the walls and choose the scaffold system. ScaFix divides the wall into bays, adds lifts and decks, and works out every part: standards or frames, ledgers, decks, guardrails, toe boards, braces, base jacks and wall ties.

How you calculate the scaffold

  1. Choose the scaffold system. The bay lengths and depths follow the system.
  2. Enter each wall with its length and height. Mark gable walls and sloping ground.
  3. Connect the walls at corners. The corner bays are shared between the walls.
  4. See the scaffold in 3D and open the parts list.

What ScaFix works out

  • Bays along the wall in the system's bay lengths, with extra bays, overhang and offset if you want
  • Lifts and decks for the wall's height, also below gables and on sloping ground
  • Guardrails, toe boards, end guardrails and braces
  • Base jacks, wall ties with their fittings, and access by ladder or stair tower
  • Roof edge protection for pitched roofs, by roof pitch
  • The parts list for each of the 64 scaffold systems, and a PDF report

Questions and answers

What do I need to calculate a scaffold?

The length and height of each wall, and the scaffold system you use. For a gable or sloping ground you enter the eaves, the ridge height or the ground height at each end.

What does ScaFix work out?

The bays along the wall, the lifts and decks, guardrails, toe boards, braces, base jacks, wall ties and access, and roof edge protection for pitched roofs. The result is a parts list and the scaffold in 3D.

Can I calculate several walls and corners?

Yes. The walls connect at corners, and the corner bays are shared between the walls so they are not counted twice.

Is the calculation a structural calculation?

ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it.
