Scaffolding for a house

Scaffolding for a house

A detached house with a gabled roof needs scaffolding on four walls, with the gables highest. Here is ScaFix's example house computed with three systems, so you see how many parts, how many square metres and which deck heights it takes.

How much scaffolding does a house need?

ScaFix's example house is 11.4 m × 5.3 m, with the eaves at 4.5 m and the ridge at 6 m. Scaffolded all round, it needs 271 parts with Layher Blitz, 481 with Layher Allround and 567 with PERI UP. The scaffold area is about 210 m², with decks at 2.71 m and 4.71 m. Your own house gets its own numbers when you enter its walls.

The example house with three systems

Scaffolding all round the house, the app's default setup. The area is the scaffold length times the height to the top of the scaffold.

What changes the amount for your house

  • The wall lengths and the eaves height: more bays and more lifts mean more parts.
  • The gables: with “Platform to roof” the scaffold goes up toward the ridge and the gables get one more deck.
  • The system: its bay length and depth decide how many bays, frames or standards you need.
  • Access and bottom decks: a stair tower instead of ladders, or “Bottom decks”, adds parts.

Limits

  • The number of wall ties follows the system's tie rule. Their positions must be checked against the manufacturer's assembly instructions.
  • Round corners, silos and hanging scaffolds are in Pro. A round scaffold is not a standard configuration and needs a calculation or the supplier's documentation. A hanging scaffold (Layher Allround and HAKI Universal) always needs a structural calculation from the supplier or an engineer.

Questions and answers

How many square metres of scaffolding does a house need?

The 11.4 m × 5.3 m example house gives about 210 m² of scaffold area with Layher Blitz. The area is the scaffold length times the height to the top of the scaffold, wall by wall.

How many parts is a scaffold for a house?

On the example house, Layher Blitz needs 271 parts, Layher Allround 481 and PERI UP 567. The difference comes from the bay length, the depth and how each system is built.

Can I get the parts list for my own house?

Yes. Enter the walls in ScaFix, or take them from a PDF drawing, and the app works out the scaffold in 3D and the whole parts list for your house.
