What is a stair tower?
A stair tower is a scaffold bay with stair flights and landings, built from the same standards, ledgers and braces as the scaffold. It is anchored to the building or the scaffold, not ballasted, and the manufacturer's tables give the parts for each height. It is used where many people go up and down, or where ladder access is not allowed.

Heights as the manufacturer's tables offer them; each system page has the full parts list for one height.
| System | Footprint | Heights | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| PERI UP Flex 75 | 2.5 × 1.5 m | 4.3–20.3 m | PERI IFAU, standard configuration (compliance sheets) |
| Layher Allround | 2.57 × 1.4 m | 2–20 m | Layher Allround (DOC0138) |

Planning a stair tower
- Choose the height to the top landing; the tables go in fixed steps (for example 2 m lifts).
- Plan the anchorage to the building or scaffold and the foundation: they are designed separately.
- Connect the landings to the scaffold decks where people step across.
- Have it inspected by a competent person before use.

Questions and answers
Why a stair tower instead of ladders?
Stairs are safer and faster when many people or tools go up and down, and some sites require them.
Is a stair tower ballasted?
No. A stair tower is anchored to the building or the scaffold; the anchorage is designed separately.
Can ScaFix plan a stair tower?
Yes, as a tower of its own (height and parts list from the manufacturer's table), and as stair access on a facade scaffold.
