How the guides, system pages and comparisons on scafix.app are written and checked, where their numbers come from, and how a mistake is corrected.

Who writes and checks the pages on scafix.app?
Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad, who builds ScaFix, writes and checks every page. Figures come from the ScaFix planning engine, the system catalogue and dated manufacturer documents; prices come from the price files the checkout uses. No external reviewer checks the pages yet. Report a mistake to support@scafix.app.
Who is responsible
- Author and editor
- Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad, who builds ScaFix and its planning engine
- External review
- None yet: as of 25 October 2026, no outside engineer, scaffolder or editor reviews the pages before they are published
- Corrections
- support@scafix.app
- Conflict of interest
- ScaFix sells the software these pages describe; the comparison pages say so where they compare other products
Where the facts come from
A page states a figure only when one of these sources gives it; a figure without a source is left out rather than estimated.
- Parts counts, bay layouts and quantities: the same planning engine the web app and the iPhone app run, on the wall sizes the page names.
- Scaffold systems, bay lengths and widths: the ScaFix system catalogue, which the web app and the iPhone app share (108 systems from 56 manufacturers today).
- Manufacturer rules (wall ties, decks, assembly): the manufacturer's assembly instructions or approval, named with its date on the system's page; a rule not yet checked against a document is marked as an estimate or as not yet checked.
- Prices: the price files the checkout charges from, never typed into a page.
- Other products: the vendor's own public pages, with the date they were read.
What the pages never do
- Present ScaFix as structural approval: it is a planning aid, not structural approval. The structural design, the manufacturer's instructions and the inspection stay with the competent people the local rules name.
- Show invented reviews, testimonials, customer counts or credentials, or mark up a rating.
- Describe a Pro-only feature (rounded corners, silos, hanging scaffolds, hoists, mobile and stair towers) as part of Basic or Basic Light.
- Say that a plan costs nothing, or state a price that the price files do not hold.
How a mistake is corrected
- Write to support@scafix.app with the page's address and, if you can, the document that shows the right figure.
- The page is corrected and its date changes, because the date at the top follows the page's own content.
- A correction that changes what customers see in the app is also listed in the changelog.
What the dates mean
The date at the top of a page is the day its own text last changed. New links or navigation do not change it; a changed figure, rule or paragraph does. The changelog lists the changes to the app itself, dated by release.

Questions and answers
Does an engineer review the pages?
No, not yet. As of 25 October 2026, the pages are written and checked by Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad, without an external reviewer. Use them as a planning aid, not as structural approval, and check the manufacturer's instructions.
Are the parts lists on the pages estimates?
No. They are what the ScaFix planning engine counts for the wall the page names, the same engine the app runs. Where a manufacturer's rule has not been checked against its document yet, the page says so.
How quickly is a reported mistake fixed?
Reports to support@scafix.app are read by the person who writes the pages. A wrong figure is corrected in the next release of the site, and the page's date changes with it.
