How many parts does a 98 m² wall need?

A straight 12.28 m × 8 m wall (98 m²) with Layher Allround needs 227 parts according to ScaFix: 4 bays (4 × 3.07 m), depth 0.73 m, decks at 2.5 m, 4.5 m and 6.5 m and a scaffold area of 92 m². Corners, gables and stairs change the count; enter your own building for your own list.

The package

Wall area and scaffold area are two different numbers. Wall area is the wall you work on: 12.28 m × 8 m ≈ 98 m². Scaffold area is the face of the scaffold itself: 12.28 m long and 7.5 m from the ground to its top ≈ 92 m², not the sum of the decks. Here the scaffold area is the smaller one: the top deck is 1.5 m below the top of the wall, and the scaffold ends 1 m above that deck.

Why 12.28 m gets 4 bays

Layher Allround has one bay length in ScaFix's catalogue, 3.07 m, so the engine builds every wall of whole 3.07 m bays and picks the number that comes closest to the wall's length. 12.28 m is exactly 4 × 3.07 m, so the scaffold is exactly as long as the wall. On other lengths the scaffold ends up a little longer or shorter than the wall, as the table shows. Computed by the same engine at the same height (8 m); the difference is the scaffold's length minus the wall's.

Lifts and deck levels on a 8 m wall

ScaFix builds Layher Allround in lifts of 2 m and puts a deck on each lift up to the top of the wall; with the setting «Bottom decks» off, the lowest lift has none. On this 8 m wall that gives decks at 2.5 m, 4.5 m and 6.5 m, and the top deck is 1.5 m below the top of the wall.
