# ScaFix – full facts > ScaFix is scaffold planning software for the browser and iPhone, made in Norway, that turns wall measurements or a PDF drawing into a 3D model and complete parts list for 108 systems from 56 manufacturers. It is made and sold by Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad, a private seller in Norway, and is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. ScaFix (scafix.app, Norway) is scaffold planning software for construction. It is not ScaffPlan (scaffplan.com), not the Scafix command-line tool for software projects, not a medicine, and not the French company scafix.fr. Updated 2026-10-26. Source pages: https://scafix.app/about and the pages linked from https://scafix.app/llms.txt. Every number below is the app's own, from its system catalogue and its planning engine. The system, guide, rules and comparison pages are in their own files: https://scafix.app/llms/systems.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/systems-2.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/systems-3.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/systems-4.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/guides.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/guides-2.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/guides-3.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/guides-4.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/guides-5.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/guides-6.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/guides-7.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/regulations.txt, https://scafix.app/llms/comparisons.txt. Catalogue: 108 scaffold systems from 56 manufacturers, plus shared system types (tube and coupler, cuplock, Kwikstage, shoring). Two buildings appear on the site: Demo house A, the 3D demo house at /example and on the front page (8.75 × 6.25 m, eaves 6 m, ridge 8 m, HAKI Universal), and Reference house B, the content pages' example house (11.4 × 5.3 m, gable roof), which the guide, system and package pages compute; their piece counts are not comparable with each other. ## Platforms - Web: ScaFix runs in a current browser with WebGL on Windows, macOS, Android and ChromeOS (https://scafix.app/); walls are drawn by hand or taken from a PDF drawing. - iPhone: the ScaFix app on the App Store (https://apps.apple.com/app/id6759226400), same account; it can also scan walls with LiDAR. - Android: the app is not on Google Play yet (checked 25 October 2026); on an Android phone or tablet, use ScaFix in Chrome — the web app is the same ScaFix with the same account. - ChatGPT: a developer preview of the ScaFix app works in ChatGPT's developer mode; it is not in ChatGPT's app directory yet (https://scafix.app/chatgpt). ## Counts as of 26 October 2026 108 scaffold systems (123 catalogue variants) from 56 manufacturers, 101 system pages on this site, and 23 mobile and stair tower systems — generated from the catalogue the app plans with. Why the numbers differ: 108 is the number of systems in the app's picker; 123 counts each size variant (for example each bay length) on its own; 101 systems have a page of their own here, the rest being variants or shared system types listed on the systems page; and 88 of those 101 pages take their wall-tie rule from the manufacturer's manual or approval, while the other 13 use the app's general rule and show tie counts as estimates (≈). ## Maker, contact, press and changes - [Contact ScaFix: support@scafix.app, the seller (a private person in Norway) and the support languages](https://scafix.app/contact) - [ScaFix press kit: fact sheet with counts from the catalogue, logo files, the founder and pictures from the 3D model](https://scafix.app/press) - [ScaFix changelog: every customer-facing change, dated by release (plans, systems, safety rules, features, platforms), with an RSS feed](https://scafix.app/changelog) - [Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad, maker of ScaFix: what he builds, what he is responsible for and where to check it](https://scafix.app/about/ole-emil-urstad) - [ScaFix facts: the seller, every plan and price with the date it applies from, the catalogue counts and why they differ, the platforms and the limits, generated from the price files and the catalogue](https://scafix.app/facts) - [Changelog as RSS](https://scafix.app/changelog.xml); latest change 2026-10-25: Try one week is now a weekly Pro subscription - [The same facts as JSON: plans, prices, counts, platforms and limits, dated](https://scafix.app/facts.json) ## Feature matrix - Walls from measurements: Supported. Length and height per wall, in metres or feet and inches. - Several walls with corners: Supported. Walls connect at corners, and the corner bays are shared between the walls. - Gable walls: Supported. Eaves on each side and the ridge height; the scaffold follows the gable. - Sloping ground: Supported. A separate ground height at each end of the wall. - Bays and lifts: Supported. Bay lengths from the system, lifts per bay, removing bays, extra bays, overhang and shifting along the wall. - Roof edge protection on pitched roofs: Supported. Guardrail 1 m above the roof plane by roof pitch; the parts are added to the list. - Walls from a PDF drawing: Supported. Choose the page, set the scale, trace the wall line and set heights. The PDF is not uploaded. - Automatic reading of the drawing: Partly. Suggests the scale and outline when the drawing allows it; otherwise you trace the walls yourself. - Angled corners (not 90°): Partly. The PDF import and building from the map in Pro keep angled corners. In the wall editor a wall turns 90° left or right. - Wall ties: Partly. The number of wall ties follows the system's tie rule. Their positions must be checked against the manufacturer's assembly instructions. - LiDAR scanning: Partly. Only in the iPhone app, on devices with a LiDAR sensor. The web version does not scan. - Round corners and curved facades: Supported. In Pro. A round scaffold is not a standard configuration and needs a calculation or the supplier's documentation. - Silo and tank scaffolding: Supported. In Pro, as round buildings and silos. A round scaffold is not a standard configuration and needs a calculation or the supplier's documentation. - Hanging (suspended) scaffolding: Partly. In Pro, for Layher Allround and HAKI Universal. A hanging scaffold always needs a structural calculation from the supplier or an engineer. - Structural calculation and approval: Not supported. ScaFix is a planning tool. It does not replace structural calculations, the manufacturer's assembly instructions or the inspection of the scaffold. ## Plans (Try one week → Basic Light → Basic → Pro) There is no free plan (since 18 October 2026). Your own projects and parts lists need Basic Light, Basic or Pro, or Try one week; the 3D demo house (/example) opens without an account, to look at only. In one sentence: Try one week costs €0.98 (9 NOK) for the first week of full Pro, then €9.98 (99 NOK) a week until you cancel; a year of Basic Light costs €39.90 (349 NOK), Basic €79.90 (799 NOK) and Pro €149.90 (1 499 NOK), and Basic and Pro are also sold monthly at €15.90 (159 NOK) and €19.90 (199 NOK). List prices (NOK on the Norwegian pages, EUR on the pages in every other language): - Try one week (Pro weekly): 9 NOK / €0.98 for the first week of full Pro, then 99 NOK / €9.98 a week until cancelled (cancel anytime: in the first week access ends at once; after a paid week access runs to the end of that week) - Basic Light: 349 NOK / €39.90 a year (yearly only) - Basic: 799 NOK / €79.90 a year, or 159 NOK / €15.90 a month - Pro: 1 499 NOK / €149.90 a year, or 199 NOK / €19.90 a month - Teams (Pro): Pro includes one user. The owner of a Pro subscription bought on the web adds colleagues as extra users for 599 NOK / €59.90 per user a year, up to 50 per team, on the Account page at scafix.app. Each colleague signs in with their own ScaFix account (own login) and gets full Pro in the browser and in the iPhone app; each extra user has their own 12 months from the day it was paid, and the owner can move a seat to another colleague at any time. A team member can send a colleague a copy of a Pro project. There are no roles or permission levels and no shared live project: every user works in their own projects. Extra users are added on the web, not in the iPhone app. - Try one week: a weekly Pro subscription with full Pro every week. Cancel anytime: in the first week access ends at once with nothing more charged; after a paid week access runs to the end of that week. - Basic Light: Unlimited scaffold projects; 3D scaffold from your wall measurements, with extra angles; Enter the walls by their measurements or from a PDF drawing, choose the scaffold system, and ScaFix draws the scaffold in 3D and works out the parts list. ### What is ScaFix? ScaFix is scaffold planning software for the web browser and the iPhone. You enter or import the walls, choose one of 108 scaffold systems and get the scaffold in 3D with its parts list. ScaFix is made and sold by Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad (support@scafix.app) and is not related to ScaffPlan. ### ScaFix at a glance - What: Software for planning scaffolding on buildings: a 3D model and a parts list - For whom: Carpenters, painters and other trades, scaffold rental companies and scaffolding contractors - Input: Wall measurements; a PDF drawing; LiDAR scanning in the iPhone app; the map, a 3D drawing or a model file in Pro - Output: The scaffold in 3D, a complete parts list and a PDF report; quotes and a tie schedule in Pro - Scaffold systems: 108 scaffold systems, each with its own bay lengths and depths - Units: Metres, or feet and inches - Platforms: The browser on PC, Mac and Android, and the iPhone app, with one account - Plans: Try one week (Pro weekly: full Pro, renews every week; cancel anytime) → Basic Light → Basic → Pro (subscription). The 3D example opens without an account. - Contact: support@scafix.app ### Plans changed 18 October 2026 Since 18 October 2026 ScaFix has no free plan: the plans are Try one week, Basic Light, Basic and Pro. Since 25 October 2026 Try one week is a weekly Pro subscription that renews every week until you cancel. Descriptions of a free plan elsewhere are out of date. ### Counts as of 26 October 2026 108 scaffold systems (123 catalogue variants) from 56 manufacturers, 101 system pages on this site, and 23 mobile and stair tower systems — generated from the catalogue the app plans with. ### Who the plans are for - Basic Light: For smaller scaffolds when you only need the parts list on screen. - Basic: For carpenters, painters, tradespeople and small scaffolding firms who want to plan scaffolding quickly, with their logo on the PDF. - Pro: For scaffolding and rental companies that build from the map and send customer quotes with their own rates. ### How you plan a scaffold in ScaFix 1. Create a project and choose the scaffold system. 2. Enter the walls: length and height, gable and ground, or take them from a PDF drawing. 3. See the scaffold in 3D. Adjust bays, lifts, overhang and offset if you need to. 4. Open the parts list and make the PDF report. ### The name ScaFix ScaFix at scafix.app is software for planning construction scaffolding. It is not related to the Scafix command-line tool for software projects, or to other companies with a similar name. ### Who makes ScaFix ScaFix is made and sold by Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad, who builds the app and its engine. Questions and corrections: support@scafix.app. ### The two example houses Two different buildings appear on scafix.app, so their part counts are not comparable. - Demo house A: 8.75 × 6.25 m, eaves 6 m, ridge 8 m, HAKI Universal: the house on the front page and in the 3D demo (view only) - Reference house B: 11.4 × 5.3 m, eaves 4.5 m, ridge 6 m, gable roof: the house the guides, system pages and packages compute ### Questions and answers **What is ScaFix?** ScaFix – scaffold software and scaffold planner. You enter the walls, choose the scaffold system and get the scaffold in 3D with a complete parts list. ScaFix runs in the browser and as an iPhone app. **Which scaffold systems does ScaFix support?** ScaFix has 108 scaffold systems, each with its own bay lengths and depths, among them Jamax, HAKI Universal, Layher Allround, PERI UP, Doka Ringlock, Plettac and Cuplock. **Can ScaFix read a PDF drawing?** Yes. You choose the page, set the scale and trace the wall line. When the drawing allows it, ScaFix suggests the scale and the outline itself. The PDF is not uploaded. **Do I need an account to see a parts list?** Yes. The parts list for your own walls needs an account with Basic Light, Basic or Pro, or Try one week (full Pro for 7 days). The 3D example opens without an account. **Does ScaFix replace structural calculations?** ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it. **Is ScaFix the same as ScaffPlan?** No. ScaFix (scafix.app, Norway) is not related to ScaffPlan (scaffplan.com). ScaFix is browser and iPhone software that plans facade scaffolds of many makers' systems with a parts list. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## Scaffold software for scaffold design and planning https://scafix.app/scaffold-design-software ScaFix is scaffold software and a scaffold planner for scaffolds on buildings: scaffolding design software in the browser and on iPhone. You get the scaffold in 3D, a complete parts list and a PDF report. ### What is ScaFix, the scaffold planning software? ScaFix is scaffolding software for planning facade and house scaffolds. You type in the wall dimensions or trace the walls from a PDF drawing, choose one of 108 real scaffold systems, and the software draws the scaffold in 3D and counts every part. It runs in the browser and as an iPhone app, with the plans Basic Light, Basic and Pro. It is a planning tool, not a structural calculation. ### ScaFix at a glance - 108 scaffold systems from 56 manufacturers - Web browser (PC, Mac, Android) and iPhone app, one account - Input: wall measurements, a PDF drawing, or a LiDAR scan on iPhone - Output: the scaffold in 3D and the complete parts list, with a PDF report - Metric and imperial units - The app in 10 languages - Plans: Basic Light, Basic and Pro, or Try one week - Not included: structural calculation or approval ### What the software does - The scaffold in 3D from wall measurements, with gable walls, sloping ground and corners - Walls from a PDF drawing, analysed locally in the browser - 108 scaffold systems with their own bay lengths and depths - A complete parts list and a PDF report with the full material list - A parts inventory that shows what is short - The scaffold and wall area in every plan, your own logo with Basic - Building from the map, quotes, loading order and a tie schedule with Pro ### Who the scaffold drawing and planning software is for - Scaffolding contractors and rental yards that price and pick material for house and facade jobs - Builders, roofers and painters who put up their own system scaffold and need the parts list - Estimators who need bays, lifts, scaffold area and piece counts before the quote - Not for: scaffolds that need a structural design, such as large industrial scaffolds; they need an engineer ### What scaffold drawing and planning software should do A checklist for choosing scaffolding design software, with what ScaFix does on each point: - Real systems: 108 scaffold systems with the manufacturers' own bay lengths and depths, not a generic grid. - Input from what you have: wall dimensions typed in, walls traced from a PDF drawing (Basic, Pro); in Pro also the map with terrain, a 3D drawing or a model file. - A 3D model to check: the scaffold drawn bay by bay, with decks, guardrails, toeboards, braces and access. - A complete parts list per system, and a parts inventory that shows what you are short of. - Documents: a PDF report with the full material list with your logo (Basic, Pro); in Pro also white labeling (your brand instead of ScaFix's), quotes from your price book, loading order and tie schedule. - Where you work: in the browser on PC, Mac and Android and in the iPhone app, with one account. ### What scaffold planning software does not replace ScaFix plans scaffolds and counts parts. It is not a structural calculation or an approval: loads, anchoring and the manufacturer's assembly instructions are checked by a competent person. ### Platforms - Browser: PC, Mac and Android, nothing to install - iPhone: The ScaFix app on the App Store, with LiDAR scanning on devices that have the sensor - Account: One account on web and iPhone, signed in on one device at a time ### Questions and answers **Does ScaFix work on desktop and mobile?** Yes. ScaFix runs in the browser on PC, Mac and Android, and as an iPhone app. One account everywhere, signed in on one device at a time. **What is the difference between Basic Light, Basic and Pro?** Basic Light: Wall sizes → 3D scaffold, full parts list in the app, walls up to 20 × 20 m. Basic: Wall measurements → 3D scaffold, full parts list and PDF with your logo. Pro: Build from the map, quotes with your logo and a tie plan. Or Try one week: full Pro, renewing every week until you cancel. **Can I look at ScaFix without an account?** You can open the 3D example without an account and look at the model from every side. Your own projects and parts lists need an account with Basic Light, Basic or Pro, or Try one week. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## From a PDF drawing to a scaffold plan https://scafix.app/pdf-drawing-to-scaffold-plan If you have a floor plan as a PDF, you do not need to type the walls. ScaFix reads the scale, finds the outline when the drawing allows it, and builds the scaffold around the walls. ### How do I turn a PDF drawing into a scaffold plan? Open the floor plan as a PDF in ScaFix and choose the page. Use the scale ScaFix finds, or set it from a known measurement. Accept the suggested outline or tap along the walls, set the wall heights and import them. ScaFix then builds the scaffold in 3D and works out the parts list. ### The five steps of the PDF import 1. Page: choose the page of the PDF with the floor plan. 2. Scale: use the scale ScaFix found, or set it yourself from a known dimension. 3. Walls: use the outline ScaFix suggests, or tap along the wall line. 4. Heights: set the height of the walls. 5. Review: check the walls and import them into the project. The scaffold builds in 3D. ### What happens automatically, and what you do - The scale and the outline are suggested when the drawing allows it. Otherwise you trace the walls. - Points snap to the drawing's lines, and to near-horizontal and vertical lines. - Very short walls (under 0.5 m) are flagged, so door and window openings do not turn into tiny scaffolds. - Corners that are nearly square are squared to 90°. Other angles in the drawing are kept. ### The PDF import in the web app: files, scale and text recognition What the import accepts and how it finds the scale for a takeoff from the drawing, as the web app does it today. - File: A PDF of up to 50 MB and 250 pages. You choose the page with the floor plan. - Automatic scale: A ratio written as 1:N, from 1:10 to 1:2000, is used only when it is labelled as the scale (for example «Scale 1:100»). A detail ratio such as «Detail 1:20» is never taken as the drawing scale. - Scanned drawings: When the PDF has no readable scale text, ScaFix runs text recognition (OCR) in the browser to look for a printed scale. - No scale found: You set the scale yourself: tap the two ends of a known measurement on the drawing and give its length. - Privacy: The analysis runs in your browser. The PDF is not uploaded and is not stored with the project. ### Check the drawing before using the result - Choose the correct PDF page and check its scale against a known dimension. Check the extracted wall lengths before continuing. - Check outside corners and wall heights, including gables. A floor plan alone does not define every height; adjust the setup for the building. - Inspect every wall in 3D and check system variant, depth, deck heights and access. These images are ScaFix examples, not an approval of your drawing. ### Questions and answers **Is the PDF drawing uploaded?** No. The original PDF is kept in memory only while the window is open, and the analysis runs locally in the browser. It is not saved with the project. **What if ScaFix does not find the outline?** Then you trace the wall line yourself by tapping along it. The points can snap to the drawing's lines and to near-horizontal and vertical lines. **Which drawings work?** Floor plans in PDF with a known scale or a known dimension. You choose the page and set the scale before you trace the walls. **Which plans include the PDF import?** Basic and Pro take walls from a PDF drawing, and so does «Try one week», which is full Pro for 7 days. Basic Light has no PDF import; there you type in the wall dimensions. **Can I change the walls after the import?** Yes. The imported walls are ordinary walls in the project. You can change length, height, gable and scaffold system afterwards, and the scaffold and parts list are recalculated. **Can I do a scaffold takeoff from a PDF drawing?** Yes. A takeoff (take-off) is the count of materials from the drawings. Import the floor plan PDF, check the scale, and ScaFix turns the walls into a 3D scaffold with the parts list for the system you choose. Check the wall lengths against the drawing before you order. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## Scaffold calculator: from wall dimensions to parts list https://scafix.app/scaffolding-calculator Enter the length and height of one wall, choose one of 108 scaffold systems from 56 manufacturers and tick «Gable wall» if the wall has a gable: the calculator shows the bays, lifts, decked levels and scaffold area in m², worked out by the same engine as the ScaFix app. No sign-in. The itemised parts list, corners and whole buildings are in the app. ### How many scaffold parts do I need for one wall? A 12.28 m long, 6 m high facade wall with Layher Blitz needs 110 parts by ScaFix's calculation: 4 × 3.07 m bays, decks at 2.71 m and 4.71 m and access by ladders. The number changes with the system, bay length, height, corners and access, so calculate your own wall with your own dimensions. ### How you calculate the scaffold 1. Choose the system: pick the scaffold system you build with; its bay lengths and depths follow. 2. Enter the wall: type the length and height in metres, with a comma or a dot. 3. Mark a gable: tick «Gable wall» and give the ridge height if the wall rises to a ridge. 4. Read the result: the bays, lifts, decked levels and scaffold area in m² for that wall. 5. Plan the building: in the ScaFix app, connect the walls at corners and open the full parts list and the 3D model. ### Worked example: 12.28 m × 6 m wall with Layher Blitz One straight wall without corners, calculated by the same engine the app uses. The example is ours, not a customer's project. - Length: 12.28 m - Height: 6 m - System: Layher Blitz - Bays: 4 × 3.07 m - Scaffold depth: 0.73 m - Decks at: 2.71 m and 4.71 m - Top deck: 4.71 m - Access: Ladders - Parts in all: 110 ### Can I calculate scaffolding in feet and inches? Yes. Typed in feet, a straight 40' × 20' wall with Bil-Jax Ring Lock comes to 4 bays (4 × 10'), decks at 8'-6 1/2" and 15'-1" and ≈146 (estimate) parts by the ScaFix engine, 735 ft² of scaffold. The [scaffolding calculator in feet and inches](/scaffolding-calculator-feet) has the whole parts list and the other US systems on the same wall; frame scaffolds are counted in [how many scaffold frames do I need](/how-many-scaffold-frames-do-i-need). ### What ScaFix works out - Bays along the wall in the system's bay lengths, with extra bays, overhang and offset if you want - Lifts and decks for the wall's height, also below gables and on sloping ground - Guardrails, toe boards, end guardrails and braces - Base jacks, wall ties with their fittings, and access by ladder or stair tower - Roof edge protection for pitched roofs, by roof pitch - The parts list for each of the 108 scaffold systems, and a PDF report ### What decides how many parts a scaffold needs? The system, the height and the shape of the building matter most. The same 12.28 m wall gives 110 parts with Layher Blitz; another system, another height or more corners give another number. These are what change the count: - The system and bay length: longer bays mean fewer standards, frames and ledgers along the wall. - The height: every extra lift adds standards or frames, guardrails and decks where a working platform is needed. - The scaffold depth: a wider scaffold uses other decks and transoms. - Corners: connected walls share their corner bays, so they are not counted twice. - Gables and sloping ground: the height changes along the wall, and the bays get different heights. - Access and ties: a ladder or a stair tower, and wall ties by the system's rule. ### How do I estimate scaffold parts by hand? 1. Divide the wall length by the system's bay length. Here: 4 × 3.07 m, covering 12.28 m. 2. Split the height into lifts of about 2 m. Here the decks sit at 2.71 m and 4.71 m, the top deck at 4.71 m. 3. Count standards or frames, ledgers, decks, guardrails and toeboards per bay and lift. 4. Add base jacks, braces, ends, access and wall ties by the manufacturer's rules. ### Is a calculator better than a spreadsheet? A spreadsheet can count bays and lifts, but it has to be rebuilt for every system. ScaFix follows each system's own bay lengths, depths, corner rules and tie rule, and shows the scaffold in 3D so you spot mistakes before the parts are ordered. ### One house, three systems The same house needs a different number of parts with each system, because frame and modular systems are built differently. Here is ScaFix's 11.4 × 5.3 m example house with a gabled roof, worked out with three systems. | System | Bay length | Depth | Parts in all | |---|---|---|---| | Jamax | 3 m | 0.68 m | 268 | | HAKI Universal | 2.5 m | 1.01 m | 652 | | Layher Allround | 3.07 m | 0.73 m | 515 | ### How to compare the setup - These are fixed ScaFix examples, not customer jobs. Use the wall dimensions and roof shape stated with each example. - Compare the same system variant, bay lengths, scaffold depth, deck heights and access. Matching house dimensions alone do not give matching parts lists. - The HAKI system-page example uses Universal 2.5 m at 1.01 m depth. The public 3D demo uses a different HAKI setup, so its piece count is not directly comparable. - The displayed quantities are calculated by ScaFix's engine. Check the setup against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the actual job; a parts list is not a structural calculation. ### Questions and answers **How many scaffold parts does a 12.28 m long, 6 m high wall need?** With Layher Blitz, ScaFix calculates 110 parts: 4 × 3.07 m bays, decks at 2.71 m and 4.71 m and access by ladders. Another system gives another number because its parts are built differently. **How much scaffolding does a whole house need?** It depends on the walls, the height and the system. The guide «How much scaffolding do I need?» shows three example buildings calculated with three systems, with bays, deck levels, area and piece counts. **Can I use the scaffold calculator on my phone?** Yes. ScaFix works in the browser on phone and computer, and as an app on iPhone. You get the same systems and the same parts list on every device, with one account signed in on one device at a time. **Does the scaffold calculator work in feet and inches?** Yes. ScaFix shows lengths in feet and inches (Imperial) as well as metres, and the parts list switches between the two. The [scaffolding calculator in feet and inches](/scaffolding-calculator-feet) takes 40' or 12' 6" and has US systems such as Waco frames, Bil-Jax Ring Lock and BrandSafway SafLock. **Can I use the scaffold calculator without an account?** Yes. The calculator at the top of this page shows the bays, lifts, decked levels and scaffold area for one wall without signing in. The full parts list, corners, several walls and the 3D model of your own walls need Try one week or a subscription; the [prices](/pricing) page lists them. **What do I need to calculate a scaffold?** The length and height of each wall, and the scaffold system you use. For a gable or sloping ground you enter the eaves, the ridge height or the ground height at each end. **What does ScaFix work out?** The bays along the wall, the lifts and decks, guardrails, toe boards, braces, base jacks, wall ties and access, and roof edge protection for pitched roofs. The result is a parts list and the scaffold in 3D. **Can I calculate several walls and corners?** Yes. The walls connect at corners, and the corner bays are shared between the walls so they are not counted twice. **Is the calculation a structural calculation?** ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## How ScaFix computes the numbers https://scafix.app/methodology The tables, totals and renders on this site are not typed in by hand. They come from the same engine and 3D renderer as the ScaFix app, run on fixed examples that we chose. ### Where do the numbers on scafix.app come from? Each page runs the app's engine on a fixed example: the example house (11.4 m × 5.3 m, eaves 4.5 m, ridge 6 m, scaffolded all round) or straight walls of 2 to 10 bays and 4 to 12 m height. The engine plans the bays, lifts, decks and access per wall, then counts the parts the way the app's parts list does. The pictures are the app's own 3D renders of the same projects. ### The steps, as in the app 1. Walls: each wall has a length and a height; gables follow the roof triangle, and connected walls share their corners. 2. Bays: the wall is filled with the bay lengths of the chosen system variant and its depth. 3. Lifts and decks: decks are placed at the system's lift heights up to the eaves; the app's settings «Platform to roof» and «Bottom decks» change the top and the lowest deck. 4. Parts: frames or standards, ledgers, decks, guardrails, toeboards, braces, ends, wall ties and base jacks are counted per bay and lift, grouped as in the app. 5. Area: scaffold length times the height to the top of the scaffold, wall by wall. ### Sources and checks - Bay lengths, depths and variants come from the app's catalogue of 108 systems. - Wall-tie and bracing rules name the manufacturer's manual or approval on each system page. Where ScaFix has no such document, or has not checked the rule against it, the page says so. - Every render is checked against the page's own total before it is published. - Pages show the date their content last changed. ### Standards and rules referred to The scaffold standards EN 12810 and EN 12811 and the UK guidance TG20 are paywalled or member-only, so they are named, not linked. The public sources ScaFix's pages refer to, read 24 October 2026: EN 1004-1 for mobile towers (PASMA's guide), EN 13374 edge protection classes (HAKI's guide), OSHA 29 CFR 1926.451, the UK Work at Height Regulations 2005, the Norwegian regulation on the performance of work, chapter 17, and the DIBt approval database for the German approvals (Z-8.1-…, Z-8.22-…) named on the system pages. - https://pasma.co.uk/faqs/en-1004-revision/en-1004-complete-guide/ - https://haki.com/service-and-support/guides-and-inspiration/en-13374-standard-for-temporary-edge-protection-systems - https://www.osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1926/1926.451 - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2005/735/contents - https://lovdata.no/dokument/SF/forskrift/2011-12-06-1357/KAPITTEL_17 - https://www.dibt.de/en/service/approval-download/search ### Who makes ScaFix ScaFix is made and sold by Ole Emil Frikstad Urstad, who builds the app and its engine. Questions and corrections: support@scafix.app. ### How to compare the setup - These are fixed ScaFix examples, not customer jobs. ### Limits - The number of wall ties follows the system's tie rule. Their positions must be checked against the manufacturer's assembly instructions. - Round corners, silos and hanging scaffolds are in Pro. A round scaffold is not a standard configuration and needs a calculation or the supplier's documentation. A hanging scaffold (Layher Allround and HAKI Universal) always needs a structural calculation from the supplier or an engineer. ### Questions and answers **Are the parts lists on the site exact for my job?** They are exact for the example they show. Your own building gets its own parts list when you enter its walls in ScaFix; always check it against the manufacturer's instructions and the job. **Why do two systems need different numbers of parts on the same house?** Their bay lengths, depths and the way each system is built differ, so the same wall takes a different number of bays, frames or standards and decks. **Is ScaFix a structural calculation?** No. ScaFix is a planning tool. It is not a structural calculation or an approval of the scaffold. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## Plan scaffolding in ChatGPT with ScaFix https://scafix.app/chatgpt Describe the walls in a chat, in your own language, and ScaFix's engine plans the scaffold: bays, lifts, decks, corners and access, with a 3D card and a link that opens the whole building on scafix.app. ### Can ScaFix plan scaffolding in ChatGPT? Yes, as a developer preview: the ScaFix app for ChatGPT works in ChatGPT’s developer mode and is not yet listed in the app directory. Describe the walls in a chat and ScaFix’s engine, the same as in the web and iPhone apps, answers with bays, lifts, decks, corners and access, a 3D card and a link. ### Status on 7 October 2026 - The ScaFix app for ChatGPT is a developer preview: it works in ChatGPT's developer mode. - It is not listed in ChatGPT's app directory yet. ### What it does - Plans one straight wall, or several walls with corners (an L, a U or the whole house). - Uses the same engine as the ScaFix web app and iPhone app, with the systems ScaFix knows (Jamax, HAKI, Layher, Plettac, PERI and more). - Answers with bays, lifts, deck levels, scaffold length, area, access and the part types, plus a 3D card. - Gives a link that opens the whole building, every wall and corner, in 3D on scafix.app. - Answers in 16 languages, among them Norwegian, English, German, Polish, Dutch, Danish, Finnish, French, Czech, Slovak and Hungarian. ### The five tools Every tool only reads: nothing is written, deleted or posted anywhere. - plan_scaffold_wall: the scaffold for one straight wall or facade. - plan_scaffold_building: the scaffold along two or more connected walls, with real corners. - compare_scaffold_plans: two set-ups of one wall side by side, for example two systems or two heights. - list_scaffold_systems: the scaffold systems ScaFix supports, by name and maker. - get_wall_parts_list: the full parts list with quantities, only when you ask for it and only with a linked ScaFix account with a plan. ### What needs a ScaFix account - Without an account, plans never include part quantities, and the 3D card shows an example of the same type: the same walls, corners and system, with example measurements. - With a linked ScaFix account with an active plan, ChatGPT can fetch the full parts list for the walls you planned, and the 3D card shows your own scaffold. - The link to your account is read-only and can be revoked. ### How to try it today 1. In ChatGPT, turn on developer mode (Settings → Apps → Advanced). 2. Create an app with the server address https://scafix.app/api/mcp and choose OAuth. 3. Ask about scaffolding, for example «scaffold along a 12 m wall, 6 m high, with Layher Allround». ### Things to ask - «Plan scaffolding for a facade 20 m long and 8 m high with HAKI Universal.» - «Scaffold around a house, walls 12 m and 8 m, 6 m high, all the way round.» - «Compare Jamax and Layher Blitz for a 15 m wall, 7 m high.» - «Which scaffold systems does ScaFix support?» ### Privacy - ScaFix logs one line per tool call: the tool, the result status, the system, the language, whether an account is linked, and the length and height rounded to 5 m and 2 m steps. - No e-mail address, user id, token, location, IP address or the text of your chat is logged. - ScaFix's privacy policy applies; questions go to support@scafix.app. ### Questions and answers **Can ChatGPT plan scaffolding?** With the ScaFix app, yes: ChatGPT passes your wall measurements to ScaFix's engine, which plans bays, lifts, decks, corners and access and returns a 3D card. ChatGPT does not invent the numbers. **Does the ScaFix app in ChatGPT give a parts list?** Plans show the part types but no quantities. The full parts list with quantities needs a linked ScaFix account with an active plan, and is fetched only when you ask for it. **Is the ScaFix ChatGPT app in the app directory?** Not yet (7 October 2026). It is a developer preview that works in ChatGPT's developer mode with the server address https://scafix.app/api/mcp. **Is a plan from ChatGPT a structural calculation?** No. Every result is a planning aid, not a structural calculation or approval. Follow the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## ScaFix next to your scaffolding inventory and rental software https://scafix.app/scaffold-inventory-and-erp ScaFix plans the scaffold and its parts list, compares it with the parts you have, and prices the quote. It is not an ERP or a rental-yard system. Here is exactly what it does with stock today, and what it does not. ### Can ScaFix manage scaffold stock? Partly. The parts inventory holds one stock per account: a count per system, part and length, or «unlimited». Projects can be planned with it, and the parts list flags what is missing. Pro imports the stock from CSV and exports a shortage list. There is no multi-depot stock, project reservation, ERP connector, public API or web–iPhone stock sync. ### What ScaFix does with stock Checked against the app's code on 23 October 2026. | Question | Answer | Detail | |---|---|---| | Parts inventory | Yes | A count per system, part and length (0–9 999), «unlimited» or «none»; included with Basic and Pro | | Plan with the stock | Yes | A project can use only the bay lengths you stock; the parts list shows «missing N» where it needs more | | Shortage list | Yes, in Pro | Download as CSV from the Pro studio | | Stock import | Yes, in Pro (web) | CSV (semicolon, comma or tab) or a pasted spreadsheet column; column names in Norwegian or English. Save an Excel sheet as CSV first: .xlsx files are not read in | | Web and iPhone share the stock | No | The web stock is stored with your account; the iPhone keeps its own on the phone | | Several depots or yards | No | One stock per account | | Stock reserved per project | No | Every project is compared with the same numbers | | Team shares one stock | No | Pro seats share project copies, not stock; a company backup (JSON) moves stock, prices and profile by hand | | Quotes | Yes, in Pro | Prices per parts row, per m² or by model, hire days, extras, discounts; quote PDF with your company identity | ### Exports | What | Format | Plan | |---|---|---| | Parts list | PDF report (Basic and Pro); CSV and Excel (.xlsx) from the Pro studio | Basic, Pro | | Stock list | CSV (system; part; length; count) | Pro | | Shortage list | CSV | Pro | | Quote | PDF | Pro | | Company backup | JSON (profile, stock, price book) | Pro | ### Not supported today - No ERP connector (for example SAP, Visma, Tripletex, Avontus Quantify) and no public API or outgoing webhooks. - No multi-depot stock, no per-project reservation, no check-in or check-out of equipment. - No barcodes or QR scanning of equipment, and no rental invoicing. - No stock sync between the web app and the iPhone app; no stock import or export on the iPhone. - No import of Excel files (CSV and pasted columns only) and no calendar (ICS) export. ### ScaFix next to your rental inventory system - Does it replace scaffolding inventory or rental software? No. ScaFix plans the job, counts the parts and prices the quote; depots, dispatch, returns and hire invoicing stay in the inventory or rental system (for example Avontus Quantify or iRent). - The hand-off (Pro): the parts list as CSV or Excel (.xlsx), the shortage list as CSV and the quote as PDF, read into the rental system by hand. - Stated plainly: there is no API, no ERP or rental-system sync and no multi-depot stock — one stock per account. - For firms whose «ERP» is a spreadsheet: keep one stock count per system in ScaFix, import it from a CSV saved in Excel, and get the shortage list per job and the quote PDF. ### Questions and answers **Does ScaFix integrate with my ERP?** Not directly: there is no ERP connector or public API. The parts list exports as CSV and Excel (Pro) and the quote as PDF, so it can be imported into the ERP by hand. **Can ScaFix track stock across several depots?** No. One stock per account; projects are checked against it, with a shortage list in Pro. **Is the stock the same on the web and on the iPhone?** No. The web app keeps the stock with your account; the iPhone app keeps its own on the phone. **Can ScaFix replace my scaffolding inventory or rental software?** No. ScaFix plans the scaffold, counts the parts and prices the quote. Depots, dispatch, returns and hire invoicing stay in your rental system. ScaFix hands over the parts list as CSV or Excel, the shortage list as CSV and the quote as PDF (all in Pro); there is no API, ERP sync or multi-depot stock. **How do I import an Excel stock list into ScaFix?** 1. In Excel, use four columns headed system, part, length_m and count (system, del, lengde, antall also work). 2. Name the system as ScaFix's own stock export does, the part in English (standard, ledger, transom, deck, guardrail, toe board, diagonal, base jack), the length in metres (3.07, 3,07 or 307 cm; empty for parts without a length), and the count up to 9 999 or «unlimited». 3. Save as CSV (semicolon, comma or tab). 4. In Pro on the web, open the parts inventory and choose Import CSV; rows that match no article are skipped and counted. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## 108 scaffold systems in ScaFix https://scafix.app/systems You choose the scaffold system in the project. The parts list uses the system's own parts, for example frames for frame scaffolds and standards and ledgers for modular scaffolds. The number of wall ties follows the system's tie rule. Where the app has a source for the rule, it is on the system's page. The positions must always be checked against the manufacturer's assembly instructions. ### Questions and answers **How many scaffold systems does ScaFix have?** ScaFix has 108 scaffold systems, each with its own bay lengths and depths. The list above is the same as the app's system picker. **Does the parts list change when I switch system?** Yes. The bay lengths, depths and parts follow the system, so the same building gives a different parts list with another system. **Is my system missing?** Write to support@scafix.app and say which system and bay lengths you use. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. The app and these pages are in more languages, so you can write in English if your own language is not one of the two. **How do I report a mistake on a page?** Write to support@scafix.app with the page's address, what is wrong and the source you rely on. Corrected pages show a new date at the top. **Where are press questions answered?** At the same address, support@scafix.app. The press kit has the facts, logo files and pictures. _ScaFix is a planning tool, not a structural calculation or approval. Always check the scaffold against the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the rules that apply before you erect it._ ## Name ScaFix (scafix.app, Norway) is scaffold planning software for construction. It is not ScaffPlan (scaffplan.com), not the Scafix command-line tool for software projects, not a medicine, and not the French company scafix.fr. Contact: support@scafix.app
